What does it mean? Amperitif is a play on words. An aperitif is an alcoholic beverage typically served as an apetizer. The slight alteration to ‘amp’eritif is a nod to the music industry, which is one of the focuses of this podcast. The podcast host, Mike, said, “I’ve found that the intimate experience of 1 on 1 conversation in this setting has created a unique experience for my guests and strengthened the bonds of friendship.”
Each episode begins with the host, Mike Lauer, and the podcast guest enjoying a custom aperitif cocktail which is created by a professional mixologist. The twist is that each aperitif is inspired by the episode’s guest.

Mike Lauer, host of the Amperitif Podcast, has been a semi-professional musician since the age of 15. He is a founding (retired) member of Boogie and the Yo-Yoz (saxophone and vocals) which is one of the most popular headlining bands in the Midwest.
Mike grew up and continues to live in Northeast Wisconsin, but has traveled extensively. He is a man of faith, devoted husband, and father of 5 children.
The intended purpose of the Amperitif Podcast is to share untold stories of people in pursuit of their passion for music and entertainment. Mike along with his guests hope to inspire listeners who have a passion of their own to pursue their dream career.
When asked why he started the Amperitif Podcast, Mike replied, “I’ve had the great pleasure to spend time and share the stage with many talented people. Making a go in the entertainment industry is a long, hard road that only one in a million make it big. However, a great many talented people have found a way to make a living and have made it their career. I wanted an excuse to invite the influential people in my life, some old friends and some new, to enjoy a cocktail and conversation. If nothing else, hopefully we’ve create something that people find interesting if not entertaining.”
